FURL is a home for personality, music and New Orleans conversation. It is also a place to find local information. Those two things deserve clear labels.
Know what you are reading
Original FURL journal pieces are our editorial perspective. FURL entertainment and comedy are identified as entertainment. Local news summaries should point to the underlying source, carry a publication date and explain why the update matters to New Orleans.

A short summary is an invitation to learn more. Open the source before drawing a conclusion, especially when a story involves a public decision or a changing situation. The New Orleans City Council and other official agencies publish primary information; our news feed links to the source used for each local update.
Help us ask better questions
The Front Porch is for guests’ opinions, memories and recommendations. A comment is not a verified news report. If something needs a deeper look, tell us which topic deserves attention without posting personal information or unverified allegations about a person.
We want this site to feel alive because people are participating, and useful because information has context. Bring a thoughtful question, give an artist their credit and follow the source when the facts matter.
